OUR PROGRAMS
Being a broad-based effort throughout all of New York City, there are many ways to become involved in NYC Men Teach to help add to the overall goal of 1000+ men of color teachers into our city's classrooms. NYC Men Teach wishes to provide you with a multitude of opportunities in order for you to select the path that's the best fit for you.

True to the mission of the Young Men's Initiative, NYC Men Teach is a partnership of many city agencies, insitutions, as well as private organizations that are committed to creating pathways into education for men of color. No matter what your experience or background in education is, there is a starting point for you through NYC Men Teach.

Essentially, our partner programs make up NYC Men Teach in addition to the direct guidance and support you can expect from the Department of Education. By joining one of are partner programs, you can commit to joining NYC Men Teach. The role of NYC Men Teach is to help you secure a place in one of our partner programs so that you can then partake in the NYC Men Teach Program.

Once accepted into a program which places you in classroom, you will be able to opt into the NYC Men Teach program, which includes:
• A mentorship program to:
- Meet twice a month with a current
teacher or other education proffesional
on the socio-emotional component of the
work
- Get placed in a small group of 4-5 other
first-year anchors to share best
practices, other valuable content
knowledge, and stories

• Professional Development/Curriculum on:
- Restorative Justice
- Cultural Relevancy
- Mastery-Based Teaching & Learning
• A Summer Bridge Experience with:
- Professional Development Sessions
- School Visits
- Hiring Fairs
- Asissistance with:
- Resume/Cover Letter
- Certification Exam Prep
- Demo Lessions
